Teknopolis 2017
February 27 – March 10, 2017
BAM Fisher
Capacity for Teknopolis is limited to 30 participants at a time.

BAM’s Department of Education and Humanities approached FuturePerfect to aid in the conceptualization and development of Teknopolis, an upcoming exhibition/installation that focuses on kinetic, spatial and gestural experiences. FuturePerfect met with staff from the marketing, programming, and operations teams to gather perspectives and generated a visual map that illustrates challenges and opportunities along a historical institutional continuum. The visual map will be used by BAM staff to help plan and implement strategies to further their public and educational technology arts programming.

About Teknopolis: Algorithms ignite and formulas are felt in this stellar showcase of interactive technology. BAM’s first-ever tech takeover features 2 floors of exhibits by international digital artists and technologists, all of them building innovative bridges between the arts and technology. Students will wander three-dimensional lightboxes, manipulate digital art through touch and movement, and witness show-stopping volumetric light displays made entirely of string through installations by artists Adrien M/Claire B (Hakanaï, 2015) and more.

Brooklyn Academy of Music’s (BAM’s) mission is to be a home for adventurous artists, audiences, and ideas. America’s oldest performing arts institution, it is recognized internationally for innovative dance, music, and theater programming—including its renowned Next Wave Festival. BAM also features an acclaimed repertory film program, literary and visual art events, and extensive educational programs. The institution is led by President Katy Clark and Executive Producer Joseph V. Melillo.

BAM Education activates learning through creativity and engages imaginations by encouraging artistic self-expression through in- and after-school programs for students and teachers; summer workshops; and public programming for audiences of all ages.
